Class 1 invited their parents to our cafe, which was great fun. We explored all kinds of things from the life cycle of a butterfly to colour mixing. The children particularly enjoyed watching our volcano explode.
Class 1’s School Trip
Class 1 went on their first school trip to Diss Library. They listened to a funny story about puddles and they had time to look at all of the lovely books. Class 1 were even lucky enough to take a book home to share with their families. Then they had their lunch at a local cafe before returning to school on the bus. They had a great time!
Class 1’s Maths Cafe
Class 1 invited their parents to come along to our ‘Time’ maths cafe. We made clocks, days of the week paper chains, we played What’s the time Mr Wolf? and much more.
Stay and Play
On Tuesday morning Class 1 invited their parents to ‘Stay and Play’. The children and their parents took part in a variety of activities in our classroom and outside. We all had a great time. Thank you for coming.
Born in a Barn
Children in Need
This week the whole school took part in a reading cafe. Class 1 read the very popular story ‘Handa’s Surprise’. We made masks of the characters from the story as well as stick puppets. Some of the children painted pictures related to the story and we weaved baskets from paper. We all had a really lovely time! Thank you for coming!
Class 1 have been celebrating Diwali. We made clay Divas, Diwali lanterns and Rangoli patterns. The children loved learning about the ‘Festival of Light’ and thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities.
In Class 1 we read the story ‘You Choose’ by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart. The children were asked to chose what they would wear to a party. Here are the results!

The children have loved PE this term. We have been learning to move our bodies in different ways and we have been developing our balancing skills.

Class 1’s Surprise Afternoon
On Wednesday afternoon Class 1 had a surprise visit from some local firefighters. They talked to the children about their roles and the types of emergencies they have to attend to. They also showed the children their uniform and some of the equipment they use. After that the children were lucky enough to sit inside the fire engine and they all had a turn at spraying the fire hose. The children had a wonderful time!
Stay & Learn Wednesday 10th February 2016
Thank you to all of the parents who joined us this morning for our ‘Stay and Learn’ session. It was great to see so many of you there and hopefully you were able to gain an insight into some of our approaches to teaching and learning. There will be another opportunity to ‘Stay and Learn’ in the summer term.
Steel pan workshop
Today Class 1 took part in a steel pan workshop. The children completed a variety of activities and they all had a go at playing the steel drums. The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning!

Mr Slater (Lilly’s Dad) came to visit us and tell us all about his trip to the Antarctic. He showed us some photographs and the special equipment that he needed.
