To celebrate National Schools Sport Week this year we have enjoyed a whole host of sporting activities, leading to our School Games Day/Sports Day.
This all began a week earlier when each class spend half a day taking part in field athletic activities to earn house points for their colour. These ranged from chest pushing a netball, beanbag throws, hurdling, speed bounce, standing long jump and even crawling through tunnels for class 1! All the points earned were added together and unveiled at the beginning of sports day.
For National School Sports Week the playground was decked with Olympic bunting and every morning we took part in activities on the playground before school. Helped by the Year 6 Sports Monitors, Mrs Goldsmith organised aerobics to our favourite pop songs, relay races using a variety of equipment, throwing, catching and aiming games, speed stacking, and finally, on Friday, learning the HAKA!
Keeping the sporting theme, Class 3 attended an afternoon of athletics as part of the cluster at Diss High School. They had a brilliant time and were all amazing!
Everyone who joined in this week has had great fun and were rewarded with N.S.S.W. stickers by the leaders.
Then on Wednesday afternoon the drizzle stopped and we had a brilliant time on Sports Day! As it is Olympic year our celebration had an Olympic theme with an opening ceremony, torch and flag parade, the year 6 girls showcased the Olympic rings and we opened and closed in the afternoon in true Olympic style.
We started with a lolly stick hunt around the field to warm up and then every class took part in their fun obstacle race to showcase their PE skills. Each class had designed their own race. Next were the running races for points for our house teams and then a house relay run by a year 3, 4, 5 and 6 from each house colour.
Parents were invited to join in with a round the field race and we also had a mini visitor race for smaller visitors, often helped by their older brothers or sisters!
Yellow house finally triumphed on the day and team captains Alex and Hannah held aloft the House Cup to a massive cheer.
A huge well done to everyone. It was an amazing afternoon and we all had great fun. What an excellent way to show PE at Scole School at its brilliant best!
