Pathfinders Home Learning

Friday 5th March 2021

Woohoo, it’s the last day of Home Learning today and you’ll get to see you all of your friends on Monday!

Today I would like you to finish your capacity activities (if you haven’t already), do your phonics lesson and you also have an English activity to do – you will need to listen to the story I’m going to read to you on Dojo and then you will understand how to do the task.

Thursday 4th March 2021

Happy World Book Day Everyone!

I’m really looking forward to seeing you all on Zoom later – we will be doing a ‘Name that Book’ quiz and if anyone wants to dress up as a character from a book that would be lovely, but remember you don’t have to.

The other activity I have organised for World Book Day is a ‘Guess the Mystery Readers’ game. This is for all of the children at Scole and all you have to do is look at each of the photos and write who you think is behind each book on the answer sheet (or any piece of paper). If you bring your answers with you on Monday I will collect them in and see how many you guessed correctly! I will be giving a small prize to everyone that returns their list of answers to me at school (please don’t send this on Class Dojo). – Mystery Readers Activity

Your English work for today is to write a book review and these are your phonics links – Year 1 and Year 2.

Have a lovely day and I hope to see you all this afternoon.

Mrs Tisbury

Wednesday 3rd March 2021

Happy World Maths Day Pathfinders!

You still have your capacity activities to carry on with for this week’s maths, but your English work for today is also maths! – How Many Legs?

If you visit the World Book Day website at 10:30 for the next 3 days you will be able to share their live story events and access lots of different activity resources. I also found this book scavenger hunt sheet which you might like to do today.

Finally, these are your phonics lesson links – Year 1 and Year 2.

Have fun!

Mrs Tisbury

Monday 1st March 2021

Good Morning Pathfinders,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

This is the last week of your Home Learning (hooray) and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all next week!

On Thursday this week it is World Book Day so I will be giving you a book related activity to do each day as well as your phonics, maths and English tasks. This is your £1 World Book Day Token to spend when the book shops reopen.

Your maths this week is exploring capacity so I have put together a variety of activities and work sheets for you to do over the week. You can do them in any order and will need to complete more than one each day – Capacity Maths Activities.

Your English activity and World Book Day activity for today can be found here – English-Conker the Chameleon and these are the phonics links for today – Year 1 Phonics and Year 2 Phonics. Year 2s, you will notice that your phonics lesson are very different this week as you are starting on Phase 6, I hope you enjoy learning with Felix!

Hello Pathfinders,

We’re half way through the week again already!

I really enjoyed reading your character descriptions yesterday and some of you wrote so much – Well done.

You have got some more writing to do today so please remember to make sure your letters are formed correctly and your writing is neat (I will be putting Toffee cards in your tray for when you come back to school if your writing is beautiful) and don’t forget about finger spaces and punctuation too.

I’ve had lots of messages to say you are enjoying the online phonics and maths lessons so that’s great news and I’ve also heard about all of the reading some of you have been doing. Here is another link for some more online reading books, your grown up just needs to sign up for a free trial and then you can get reading.

Bug Club Free Trial

One of the parents has also informed me that there is a good app for reading books called Libby (you just need a library card and then it’s free). Once you’re in the children’s section, select ‘all titles’ and then ‘more’ and there’s a list of genres including ‘picture books’ and ‘beginner reader’. I haven’t checked it out myself, so maybe get your grown up to have a look to see what they think.

The links for everything you need today are below as usual.

Take care everyone and well done for all your hard work so far this week.

Hello Pathfinders,

I hope you had a lovely weekend with your families and managed to have some fun in the snow before it all melted!

I thought you might like to try some online lessons for maths this week so you will be learning more about money using the Oak Academy online lessons; there are separate links for the Year 1 and Year 2 lessons. Phonics are also online lessons again this week and there are separate links for Year 1 and Year 2 for these too.

I’ve attached all 5 of your theme lessons for the week today because they are all linked – you can choose whether you would like to do more than one activity today, one each day, or save them to do together another day.

Your English activities are not linked to a story book this week, but I have written what you need to do at the top of today’s sheet – I think you will definitely enjoy the first part!

Everything you need for your activities for today is below and I’ll look forward to seeing and hearing how you have got on via Dojo later today.

Enjoy your day everyone,

Keep as active as you can. If you do some walking with your family you could let me know how far you have walked in a week and I can add your distance to our Race to Tokyo totals. Did you go outside and play in the snow? Who built a snowman or practised their throwing skills with snowballs?

Have a good week everyone and keep active!

Tuesday 12th January 2021

Hello Everyone,

Apologies for the delay in answering some Dojo messages yesterday, their website wasn’t working for a large part of the afternoon – I suspect it may have been due to the number of people that are currently using it during these strange times. Anyway, fingers crossed it will be ok today and you will be able to send me pictures of the work that I have added below when it is completed.

I’ve only added the links for your phonics lesson and an English and maths activity today; you should still have some science activities to finish from yesterday and plenty of koala creative ideas to be trying.

Stay safe and keep working hard.

Monday 11th January 2021

Good morning Pathfinders,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I will be putting all of this week’s Home Learning work, and any links you made need, on here every day again; please continue sending me pictures of your completed tasks and any messages through our Class Dojo.

The English activities for this week will all be linked to the story of ‘The Koala Who Could’ by Rachel Bright, so you will need to watch the story first before you can complete any of your English work (you may need to watch it more than once). Click here to watch.

Just like last week, there will be a daily maths and theme lesson and I would also like you to start doing a phonics lesson every day from today please. They last for about 20 – 25 minutes and you will be watching them on YouTube; you will find the link that you need below (different ones for Year 1 and Year 2).

Here is a link for some free Book Band eBooks for you to read – Free Book Band eBooks. If you can’t remember which Band you are on, please message me on Class Dojo and I will get back to you.

Finally, I’ve attached a Koala  Activity Grid for any of you that would like to get creative this week.

I hope you are all doing some reading every day and, if you haven’t already clicked on the link that I added on Wednesday, please give the online comics a try because I think you will enjoy them.

Good Morning Pathfinders,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

I know we were all expecting to be back at school this morning and I’m sad that I won’t get to see you today and hear all about the fun things you’ve been doing and what  presents you got from Father Christmas.

I’ve planned lots of activities for this term so I thought you could make a start on some of them at home today.

There is a story called Zog I would like you to watch on YouTube and then a writing activity and some creative activities for you to do linked to the story. I’ve also attached a list of spellings for you to learn this week and some maths work to do with an adult.

Monday 20th July

Hello Class Two,

I hope you are all well and have been enjoying the sunshine.

I just wanted to say well done to all of you for your hard work during Lockdown. I’ve loved looking through the work that has been returned to me at school, you have worked incredibly hard and produced some great work!

I know it’s been a very strange time for you and you will have missed being in school with your friends, (Mrs Smith and I have certainly missed seeing all of you every day) but I’m so proud of you for being resilient and for continuing with your learning at home.

It will be great to see each and every one of you back at school in September and we will all be working together to get back to a different sort of ‘normal’ as we start our new school year. I’m sure the Year 2s will make amazing Year 3s and Mr Silcocks and Mrs Dunning are very lucky to be getting you in their class. Mrs Smith and I are looking forward to the Year 1s blossoming into brilliant Year 2s in September and we have lots of fun learning for you to do too!

Finally I would just like to say a heart felt thank you to all of the parents. Your enthusiasm and diligence in teaching your child(ren) at home, in what has been an incredibly difficult and worrying time, has been admirable and I think some of you might have discovered a new vocation! I hope you will have a lovely summer  holiday and find some time to rest and relax before we return to school and the new routines in September.

Have a great summer everyone and we’ll see you all soon!

Best wishes,

Mrs Tisbury

PE Home Learning Update 29.6.20

Hello everyone

You will have now received your new PE Home Learning Packs which are full of a mixture of activities to do, but also have a new Exercise log for you to record your activity levels for a week and a design a football strip, to celebrate the return of football!

With the summer holidays fast approaching, I am aware that we haven’t been able to talk to you all, either during swimming sessions or at school, about knowing how you can enjoy the water and stay safe. Whether by sea, river or lake, the skills involved in keeping safe whilst swimming outdoors are very different to those of an indoor pool, where most swimming lessons take place, so I have included two “Spot the Dangers” sheets with answers. Please take some time to look at them with an adult and talk about how to keep safe if you are near water or enjoying the beach over the summer.

This is the last PE Home Learning pack before the summer holidays so I have also included a blank August Activity tracker sheet which I hope you will fill in with activities over the summer.

You can access my new letter and the blank August Activity Tracker information here –

Home Learning Letter – Home Learning Letter 4

Exercise Log – Exercise log

Blank August Activity tracker – August 2020 – Blank activity sheet

I hope you all have a great, active summer holidays and keep safe. I will look forward to seeing you all in September.

Remember to give me a wave if you see me walking around the village!

Take care & keep active everyone.

Dear Parents,

As you may have heard, the Government have launched the Oak National Academy to support teachers and families with on-line learning for our pupils. The teachers at Scole Primary will be using this resource to support the planning that they have already established, where appropriate. Mrs Vosper has asked if you would ‘Please be guided by your child’s teacher in the learning activities that you do at home to ensure that they make progress in line with the school’s curriculum.’

I haven’t included any lessons from the Oak Academy at this time as I feel that I have given the children plenty of resources to use for the next few weeks. It may be something I refer to in the future if the lock-down continues, but I have added the link below if you would like to explore the website. If you have any questions or queries about the work/activities etc please email the school office and I will do my best to get back to you.

Thank you,

Mrs Tisbury

Hello Class Two,

I hope you all had a great Easter holiday and have been enjoying the lovely weather. Mrs Smith and I are really missing you all, but we have been busy thinking of lots of activities that you can be doing while you are at home.

Your new learning packs are all ready to be collected tomorrow (Wednesday 22nd April) and we have included a mixture of activities for you to choose. Please make sure you do some reading every day as well as the activities on the grid and the sheets in your pack. I’m sure you have read all of your school books by now and probably lots of your own books! If you would like to read some books online you can go onto the Oxford Owl website and choose books from your reading band (I’ve added the website link in the list below). There is also a list of lots of useful websites that your parents can help you explore in your home learning pack.

I’ve spoken to most of you and your parents on the telephone and I know you are all doing your school work and having lots of fun too, which is fantastic!

Keep up the good work and keep well and safe!

Love from

Mrs Tisbury and Mrs Smith
