Ask your child if he/she knows what gravity is? Explain that gravity is a force that makes things stay on the earth, so that they don’t float off into space. This is very different to being on the moon. Watch the clip of the first man on the moon. His name was Neil Armstrong.

Together write down some questions you would like to ask if you were to meet him.

Questions for Neil Armstrong

I would like to take this opportunity to say a very well done to all of you. As I always say in class, give yourself a pat on the back and a medal on the front. A massive well done to your parents too! It has not been an easy task but so many of you have risen to the challenge. Thank you so, so much!

I am really looking forward to seeing you on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend and see you very soon.

Hello Explorers,

As Mrs Wright has told you, it is World Book Day so I have organised a ‘Guess the Mystery Readers’ game. This is for all of the children at Scole and all you have to do is look at each of the photos and write who you think is behind each book on the answer sheet (or any piece of paper). If you bring your answers with you on Monday I will collect them in and see how many you guessed correctly! I will be giving a small prize to everyone that returns their list of answers to me at school (please don’t send this on Class Dojo or Tapestry). – Mystery Readers Activity

Have fun,

Encourage your child to make comments about the story.

Next, show your child the shadows image (see below). Ask him/her to talk with you about what might be making the shadows. Reveal the images of the objects (cat, tree and spade). Nothing scary there! When it is dark, however, things can make us feel scared as we imagine what they could be! Sometimes things may appear scary when really they aren’t. What scary things can your child suggest the shadows might’ve been, using their imaginations. Fang appeared scary to the fish but really he wasn’t. Ask your child if they have ever thought something was scary and then changed their minds. Why was that?

Hello Class One,

I hope you are all well and have been enjoying the sunny weather.

I just wanted to say well done to all of you for your hard work during Lockdown. I’ve really enjoyed looking through the work that has been returned to me at school, you have worked very hard and produced some great work.

Mrs Turner-Clay and I have really missed seeing all of you every day, but I’m so proud of you for continuing with your learning at home.

I hope you will have a lovely summer holiday and find some time to relax before we return to school in September.

I know that you will be fantastic for Mrs Tisbury and Mrs Smith. Have a great summer everyone and we’ll see you all soon!

Warm wishes,

Mrs Wright

PE Home Learning Update 29.6.20

Hello everyone

You will have now received your new PE Home Learning Packs which are full of a mixture of activities to do, but also have a new Exercise log for you to record your activity levels for a week and a design a football strip, to celebrate the return of football!

With the summer holidays fast approaching, I am aware that we haven’t been able to talk to you all, either during swimming sessions or at school, about knowing how you can enjoy the water and stay safe. Whether by sea, river or lake, the skills involved in keeping safe whilst swimming outdoors are very different to those of an indoor pool, where most swimming lessons take place, so I have included two “Spot the Dangers” sheets with answers. Please take some time to look at them with an adult and talk about how to keep safe if you are near water or enjoying the beach over the summer.

This is the last PE Home Learning pack before the summer holidays so I have also included a blank August Activity tracker sheet which I hope you will fill in with activities over the summer.

You can access my new letter and the blank August Activity Tracker information here –

Wednesday 10th June 2020

Hello Class One,

I hope you and your families are all keeping well.
It was lovely to speak to some of you on the telephone after the Easter holidays. I will be calling some more of you over the coming weeks, but please do email the office if you need any support with anything and I will call you as soon as I can.
This week I will also be finishing the next Home Learning pack ready for you to collect on Monday 15th June. Mrs Tisbury would love it if you could return your infinity puzzle piece when you collect your pack. She will leave a tray on the table outside for the puzzle pieces so that they can be ‘quarantined’ before they are put up on display in school. I would also really appreciate it if you could return all of the plastic folders which contained your previous packs 
Thank you all for your continued support and hard work,
Mrs Wright xx
