Our Big RE Question

February 10th, 2017

In R.E. our big question is “What do Christians believe God is like?”.  As a class we had a discussion and here are some of our ideas.

“God is like salt and melts all the bad things so the good things can come back”.

“God is willing to take a risk for the world”.

“If you make a mistake God will still forgive you”.

“God loves everyone he won’t not love anyone”.

We have also been thinking about our parents and how they show that they love us. We had to draw an outline one of our parents and write what they do for us.

On the 8th February 2017 Class 3 had a maths café with the parents who were able to come. We had fun! We played games and did different activities such as, measuring parents and timing how many times they could write their name on a piece of paper. On the netbooks we had maths games like Dino Dig, Brick Blaster and Hit the Button. Finally we had cake, biscuits and drinks. We are already looking forward to our science café next month.

In art with Mrs Tisbury, we drew still life pictures of objects around the class room. This means you draw from the angle you see it. We tried to give it as much detail as we possibly could.

Rocks and soils

November 24th, 2016

In class 3’s science we have been learning about rocks and soils. This week we learnt how fossils are formed. Skye brought in some amazing examples, one was a big ammonite. We also learnt about soils and as a class we had a go at making a wormery. After a few days we looked at the wormery to see  how the horizontal layers of compost and sand had been mixed up by the movement of the worms.

Class 3’s Reading Cafe

November 16th, 2016

On Tuesday 15th November every class in school hosted a reading cafe for parents and other adults who wanted to share books and activities with their children. In Class 3 we read the first part of ‘The Hobbit’ by JRR Tolkien, listening carefully to the description of both the Hobbit Hole and the Hobbits themselves. Then, with the help of our grown-ups, we made Hobbit puppets using card, split-pins, cloth, wool, doweling and felt-tipped pens. Everybody enjoyed being creative – and eating the delicious cakes and biscuits! We would like to say thank you to all the people who were able to come along to work with us in our cafe. We are already looking forward to the next one!

On the 18th of March it was Sport Relief day to rase money. We had to run as far as we could around our school field. Twelve laps around was a mile. Class 3 ran for about forty-five minutes and some people managed to run about three miles! Lots of us bought wristbands to raise even more money for Sport Relief.

Personal Survival

March 7th, 2016

On the 1st of March class 3 went swimming where we did personal survival. Personal survival is when you learn about keeping safe in the water. You have to be VERY careful near ponds and lakes! There were three groups and each did a different part of personal survival. The first group learnt about avoiding rocks and other obstructions in the water. The second found out how tread to  water and how to keep warm in water . the last group concentrated on rescuing people from the side of the pool . We had lots of fun while learning about this very important topic and we would like to thank Lindsay and all the other teachers at Diss Swimming Pool.  🙂

Olly Day’s magic road safety show

February 29th, 2016

In school on Thursday 25 February we had a visitor called Olly Day. He told us all about road safety and showed us some magic tricks as well. In one of them he had some ropes,  one short, one medium and one long. They each had names, the short one was Stop, the medium one was Look and the long was And Listen. He asked us if we wanted the ropes to be the same length and we did, so he folded  them all together. Two of the pupils pulled the ropes and the ropes ended up as the same length! We learned lots about keeping safe on the road, not crossing on a bend and the importance of wearing cycle helmets.
