Rugby Club is every Wednesday lunchtime and is run by Dave Hearnden- Hall who is an very experienced local rugby coach. Part of our Sports Premium Funding is used to fund the club and it has been an excellent way to introduce rugby into school for pupils in years 3-6.
Rugby Club runs all year round, weather and field conditions permitting and pupils can always join up and get involved. All we ask is a change of kit to use for rugby as it is often wet and muddy on the field.
We are already seeing great enthusiasm for the sport and growing confidence in those who attend. It is an excellent way to experience rugby for the first time and then go on to play for the school, at a local club (Please ask Mrs Goldsmith if you would like details of local opportunities) and use all your invasion games skills during PE lessons!
Already in 2013/14 we have been able to take a team of mixed girls and boys from years 3-6 to play in a local cluster tournament. After our efforts an email from Rosemary Bloom, our local School Sports Coordinator said ” “I would just like to how impressed I was with your pupils yesterday at the Tag Rugby tournament. Your pupils played with a lovely attitude and were so enthusiastic and considering you had a mix of 4,5 and 6’s I thought that they did extremely well. Your pupils were an absolute credit to themselves and the school.”
