Our Big RE Question

February 10th, 2017

In R.E. our big question is “What do Christians believe God is like?”.  As a class we had a discussion and here are some of our ideas.

“God is like salt and melts all the bad things so the good things can come back”.

“God is willing to take a risk for the world”.

“If you make a mistake God will still forgive you”.

“God loves everyone he won’t not love anyone”.

We have also been thinking about our parents and how they show that they love us. We had to draw an outline one of our parents and write what they do for us.

Class 3’s Maths Cafe

February 10th, 2017

On the 8th February 2017 Class 3 had a maths café with the parents who were able to come. We had fun! We played games and did different activities such as, measuring parents and timing how many times they could write their name on a piece of paper. On the netbooks we had maths games like Dino Dig, Brick Blaster and Hit the Button. Finally we had cake, biscuits and drinks. We are already looking forward to our science café next month.

Still Life Drawings

February 10th, 2017

In art with Mrs Tisbury, we drew still life pictures of objects around the class room. This means you draw from the angle you see it. We tried to give it as much detail as we possibly could.

Stone Henge models

November 29th, 2016

This week, with Mrs Pharoah, our student teacher,  we have created Stonehenge models. We made them in groups of 4 or 5  and they look fabulous! We had a variety of materials to use to make our Stonehenge models including polystyrene, plasticine, cardboard, foam, sellotape and corrugated card.

Rocks and soils

November 24th, 2016

In class 3’s science we have been learning about rocks and soils. This week we learnt how fossils are formed. Skye brought in some amazing examples, one was a big ammonite. We also learnt about soils and as a class we had a go at making a wormery. After a few days we looked at the wormery to see  how the horizontal layers of compost and sand had been mixed up by the movement of the worms.

Class 3’s Reading Cafe

November 16th, 2016

On Tuesday 15th November every class in school hosted a reading cafe for parents and other adults who wanted to share books and activities with their children. In Class 3 we read the first part of ‘The Hobbit’ by JRR Tolkien, listening carefully to the description of both the Hobbit Hole and the Hobbits themselves. Then, with the help of our grown-ups, we made Hobbit puppets using card, split-pins, cloth, wool, doweling and felt-tipped pens. Everybody enjoyed being creative – and eating the delicious cakes and biscuits! We would like to say thank you to all the people who were able to come along to work with us in our cafe. We are already looking forward to the next one!

New books for Class 3

November 7th, 2016

Thank-you to all the parents who supported our book fair which was held during parents’ evenings last half-term. As a result every class was allowed to buy some new books. We are very lucky to have ten new books to read, we especially like ‘Barry Loser hates half-term’ by Jim Smith.

Stone Age Experience

October 14th, 2016

On the 20th of September Will Lord and Simon gave us a fantastic experience of cave men life. They showed us how to make string with bark. Also they showed us how to gut  a fish and how to make glue out of a stone. We found out how to make a fire out of a pirate stone (iron pyrites). It was one of the best school days ever!

River pictures

May 11th, 2016

At the end of our mountains, coasts and rivers topic we learnt about the different features of rivers. There included tributaries, meanders and confluences. We were inspired by our work with Google maps to make river pictures using oil pastels.
